JEDDAH, 14 February 2006 — Veteran Kashmiri leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani gave a call for a concerted effort for an early settlement of Kashmir dispute .

Chairman of All-Parties Hurriyat Conference, Geelani, was speaking at a reception given in his honor by All Jammu and Kashmir Community here recently.

Addressing the gathering Geelani said that whenever Pakistan raises the issue of Kashmir India always tries to hurt the nation. He said India should resolve this contentious issue as soon as possible for peace and stability in the region.

Geelani blasted India for trying to control Kashmir by force and deliberately avoiding Kashmiri’s right of plebiscite.

He said India does not want to give Kashmiris their genuine rights easily, so we have to work unitedly with one voice at all forum to achieve our goals.

Geelani also criticized those who were deviating from the actual mission of Kashmir’s liberation by giving India several options instead of sticking to the plebiscite. India did not move an inch while it has created confusion among the Kashmiri.

While Ikramul Haque Abbasi presided over the evening, Lateef Abbasi conducted the proceedings. Ghulam Nabi Butt welcomed the guest and Sardar Mustaq congratulated Geelani for the completion of his Haj successfully.
