Al-Ahli and Al-Nasr scored vital wins in Saudi Soccer League action last night. In Dammam, Ahli decisively beat Al-Qadisiya 3-0 and erased the stigma of an embarrassing 1-0 defeat against Al-Ittifaq in Jeddah on Saturday.
Ahli were more determined this time to secure the full three points and strengthen their position at third in the standings with 28 points.
Jawad Agdar opened Ahli’s account in the 32nd minute of the match. Further goals came from Ahli star player Malek Muaz and Saleh Al-Muhammadi.
In Riyadh, Nasr gained three points against Taie with a 3-2 and advanced to the eighth place with 19 points. Blanco scored the first goal and Saad Al-Harthi added two goals for Nasr. Taie are currently in ninth position with 18 points. Al-Shabab face Ansar in Riyadh and Ittifaq host Al-Ittihad in Dammam today.
Al-Shabab continues to lead with 35 points at the Saudi league followed by Al-Hilal with 32 points. The irony of football was present after Al-Ittihad secured themselves with a 2-2 draw at their encounter with Hilal on Monday, failing to advance. Hilal managed to pull the rug out from underneath Ittihad by scoring the second goal at the last minute, thanks to Fahd Sorour.
Al-Wehda player, Kamel Al-Moussa was transferred to Hilal Club until the end of the season. Hilal had to recruit players because of the nine players who are warming up for the World Cup, and the absence of the others due to injuries. The Transfer of Al-Moussa opens the door for other clubs, such as Ittihad to make requests of player at Wehda, such as Sulaiman Amedo and Nasser Al-Shamrani, who moved to Shabab.
Skydiving: Saudi Arabia took third place and won a cup at the second Arab Armed Forces Skydiving Championship held in Riyadh.
Algeria won first place while Morocco came in second. The Sport Administration at the Armed Forces organized the championship with the support of the Saudi Aviation Club.
Equestrian Tournaments: Jeddah yesterday hosted their 14th Equestrian Race with five races. The first and second races featured four-year-old horses at a ditance of 2,000 meters. The third open race was for 1,600 meters for Arabian horses aged four years.
The forth race for horses that have never won, aged three years, for 1,200 meters. The fifth open race for 1,600 meters was for imported horses aged four years.
On Tuesday Riyadh hosted the third curvets championship at its eighth round at the Arab League, which qualified equestrians to participate in the World Cup. The championship will run through Saturday at the General Security Administration Center field.
The nine countries participating are United Arab Emirates, Syria, Bahrain, Egypt, Lebanon, Palestine, Yemen and the hosts Saudi Arabia. On Wednesday Saudi equestrian Khalid Al-Eid led the way to the finals after finishing two rounds without errors. With 117 points, Al-Eid was ranked first place and was qualified to play at the World Cup. The other rankings were Waseem Anzouti (Syria, second place). Ramzi Al-Duhami (Saudi Arabia, third place). Faisal Al-Shallan (Saudi Arabia, fourth place). Prince Abdullah ibn Miteb (Saudi Arabia, fifth place).
In Buraida, the 13th Equestrian Race was held yesterday at the Equestrian Club’s field in Al-Qaseem. The winner of the first race for female horses for 1,400 meters was Danat Aseer, belonging to Abdulilah Al-Munsalih.
The winner at the second race for horses of both sexes, for 1,600 meters, was Al-Washeek, belonging to Sulaiman Al-Ibrah. The winner at the third open race for female horses, for 1,600 meters, was Asaliyah, belonging to Hamad Al-Mutawa. The winner at the forth open race for horses aged 5 years and up for 2,000 meters was Al-Zafaran, belonging to Khalid Al-Saghir. The winner at the fifth open race for horses aged four years was Aseerah, belonging to Al-Aryaf Stable. And the final sixth open race for 2,000 meters was Wardah, belonging to Abdulilah Al-Munsalih.
