JEDDAH, 20 February 2006 — Art lovers wishing to give the poor a helping hand can attend the exhibit “Art & Creativity,” organized by the women’s section of the Charity Warehouse tomorrow and Wednesday at Duniaty Hall of the Jeddah Westin Hotel.

The exhibit, with the support of Princess Sarah Al-Angari, aims to bolster the coffers of the warehouse to better serve the poor.

“These exhibits that we hold regularly increase our resources for helping the poor families of Jeddah,” said Saud Al-Fulait, the warehouse’s executive manager.

Another exhibit is to spotlight the talents of skilled women who display artwork and craft work for the event. They also earn income from exhibit sales. Some participants earlier contributed to the “Creativity Prize” organized by the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Traditional fashion and jewelry shows also complement the exhibit.

“We use the stall-rentals for charity,” said Haifa Blisi, who oversees warehouse finances. “However, renters keep their sales profits.”

Hanaa Al-Tuweijri, women’s section manager of the warehouse, expects 1,500 women to attend the event.

Artist Muna Al-Qasabi will contribute 105 of her tableaus at nominal prices to benefit the poor. She also plans 10 free art courses.

The Charity Warehouse currently assists more than 4,000 poor families.

The two-day exhibit runs from 5-11 p.m. Admission is SR150 tomorrow and SR70 Wednesday.
