RIYADH, 20 February 2006 — State-owned Saudi Aramco said yesterday it has awarded South Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering Co. a contract for the construction of six large oil tankers. It did not give the value of the deal. The first of the six vessels, which will have a capacity of 218,000 tons each, would be delivered in the first quarter of 2008, the firm said in a statement.
