Build a WiMAX Network Online Education

NetworkAnatomy has announced that the February issue of its e-magazine, Online-CTO, which includes the Primer, “How to Build a WIMAX Network” may be downloaded free. Beginning with the March issue, NetworkAnatomy will offer Online-CTO for $12 per month with no yearly contract. To receive the complimentary copy, e-mail [email protected].

Many engineers are interested in WIMAX, but finding education resources on the subject is very difficult. NetworkAnatomy has taken the lead, online, in providing a free reality engineering education series via its monthly Online-CTO e-magazine. The training not only comes from its own WIMAX engineering efforts but also from subscribers around the world who have offered their stories and perspectives.

While there exists documentation of some WIMAX certified equipment and private training, WIMAX remains unknown in a hands-on sense. Internationally, WIMAX versions have been out for several years with deployment figures from 60,000 to 90,000 systems across the four WIMAX certified equipment vendors thus far. However, hands-on engineering training remains difficult to find or obtain.

Presenting WIMAX reality education, NetworkAnatomy’s effort is simplified using their Online-CTO e-magazine as the delivery vehicle for the initial Primer, which lays the foundation for the next few “how to” installments. Rich with reference material and skill tests in a logical flow, the real world information is instantly usable.

Half-Terabyte Serial ATA Desktop Hard Drives

Western Digital has begun shipping its new high-capacity 500GB Serial ATA (SATA) WD Caviar SE16 desktop-class hard drives. Providing a half terabyte of capacity for data-intensive applications such as graphic design, digital video editing, personal video recorders and advanced business computing, WD Caviar SE16 500GB drives also deliver high 7,200 rpm performance with 300MB/s transfer rate, 16MB cache and Native Command Queuing (NCQ).

Heat is a major contributor to hard drive wear, and cool drive operating temperatures help increase long-term drive reliability. WD hard drives are designed to have the lowest power consumption of any high-capacity desktop-class hard drive. Lowering the drive’s power consumption means the operating temperature of WD Caviar drives is much cooler, which provides for enhanced drive reliability. Cool drives are increasingly important for today’s multi-drive and small-form-factor systems.
