Rivers pass any property wherever they flow,

Including lotic habitats where plants grow.

Fishermen take coracles and row,

Wherever the current is always slow,

Catching salmon in an ox-bow.

Rivers start as a trickle of water,

Passing its estuary its journey gets shorter.

The river slithers through, joining tributaries,

Meandering in angles like bends in your knees,

As currents get fast it is as fast as a motor.

Along its journey the waters are shallow and deep,

Passing V-shaped valleys that are very steep.

Some rivers are out of control because of their floods,

When the flood is over there is nothing left but mud,

The river glides past plants in the river like reeds,

Finally the river reaches the sea, its end,

After passing its curves and different bends.

It glides, rushes and flows towards the sea,

Where the river shall always run through free,

Remember the river is always a friend!
