JEDDAH, 26 February 2006 — More than 500 teachers complained to the National Society for Human Rights against the decision to terminate their contracting work in Jeddah and Rabigh.
The Ministry of Education decided to terminate the contract of the teachers and replace them with the ones transferred in to Jeddah from other parts of the Kingdom, Al-Madinah newspaper reported.
The teachers said that the decision to terminate their contract came after long years of waiting to get official contracts from the ministry. They urged education officials to review their decision.
Salah Al-Bedani, father of a female teacher, said that the decision has left many educators despondent, feeling that the new teachers are less experienced than the ones that have been fired.
