400 Saudis Apply for Tourism Jobs
JEDDAH, 27 February 2006 — Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) received applications of more than 400 young Saudis interested in jobs provided by travel and tourism agents. These jobs include reservation and ticketing, tour guide, sales and marketing agent, customer service, cargo agent and accountants. This is part of the Saudization process in the tourism sector set by the Ministry of Labor aiming at nationalizing 81 percent of the jobs in the tourism sector within three years.
Saudi Oil Income Put at $12.66bn
DUBAI, 27 February 2006 — Saudi Arabia earned $12.66 billion in oil revenues during January and accounted for more than half of the total oil income of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries during the month, according to a report drawn up by the Gulf Research Center. The total GCC oil income was $23.15 billion, reflecting an increase of $3 billion over the figure for the month of December even though production declined by 20,000 barrels per day (bpd). Among other GCC countries, the UAE came second to Saudi Arabia with $3.89 billion in oil earnings in January.
