RIYADH, 1 March 2006 — The first ever film with a Saudi cast is being produced for screening in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries this summer.
“Kaif Al Hal?”, or “How Are You?”, a comedy that takes on the global misconceptions of Saudi life and tackles social issues facing young people in the Kingdom, was filmed for over several months at different locations in Dubai and is expected to draw huge crowds since this is the first production of its kind in the region.
Rotana Audio Visual, chaired by Prince Alwaleed ibn Talal, chairman of the Kingdom Holding Company, is producing the film.
“We are proud to support the production of the first feature-length Saudi film with a Saudi cast,” Prince Alwaleed said in a statement issued yesterday.
Directed by Izidore Musallam (Adam & Eve, 2002), this film will mark the first time Saudi actors and actresses will star in a feature film.
The actors include, Star Academy winner Hisham Abdulrahman, Turki Al-Yusuf, Fathima Al-Hawsani, Muhamed Al-Sairafi, Mishal Al-Mutairi, Mais Hamdan, Ali Al-Sabea, Hind Muhamed, Talal Al-Sidr and Khaled Sami.
