RIYADH, 2 March 2006 — The president of the Saudi Youth Welfare Presidency, Prince Sultan ibn Fahd, has slapped Al-Ahli goalkeeper Abdu Besisi with a one-year suspension for his unsportsmanlike behavior during Ahli’s match against Al-Hilal, which they lost 3-2 last week. Besides the suspension, Besisi was fined SR2,000. The suspension created a problem in Ahli goalkeeping because there are only two goalies in the lineup. To address the problem, Ahli will request the Saudi Football Federation to allow them to recruit one goalie.
Al-Jaber to Quit
RIYADH — Hilal team captain Sami Al-Jaber will announce his retirement from playing at the international level after the World Cup 2006 in Germany. He said that his decision is final and will not go on it. He, however, said his future at Hilal is linked to the period of his contract. Al-Jaber said he achieved a lifetime dream by playing in the World Cup for the fourth time.
Ahli Seminar
JEDDAH — Ahli club soccer academy ended a seminar on preparing national coaches. The seminar lasted for one week and covered subjects concerning the youth team and how to prepare a solid infrastructure of young players at the club.
