Prince Nawaf ibn Faisal, deputy president of Youth Welfare Presidency and Saudi Football Federation, is throwing his full support to the first Gulf championship for senior football players. The championship divided into two stages will run first from March 16 -19 in Riyadh, and from March 20 to 27 in Dammam. The former national coach Khalil Al-Ziyani and administrator Ahmad Eid will supervise the training for the 36 chosen players. These players are: Saleh Al-Naimah, Fahd Al-Huraifi, Foad Anwar, Abdulaziz Al-Rizgan, Saeed Al-Owairan, Talal Al-Jibril, Abdullah Shuraidah, Hussain Albishi, Saleh Al-Mutlag, Yasser Al-Taifi, Saleh Al-Dawoud, Naif Marzoug, Mohammed Al-Mutlag, Fahd Al-Hamdan, Mohammed Al-Subait, Nasser Al-Dossari, Saud Al-Hammali, Saleh Khalifah, Omar Ba-Khashwin, Jamal Mohammed, Hamad Al-Dibikhi, Abdulla Saleh, Sadoun Hamoud, Khalid Al-Dossari, Nasser Al-Mansour, Salman Al-Namshan, Mansour Al-Moussa, Fawwaz Al-Gablan, Mohammed Abduljawwad, Hassan Khalifa, Basem Abu Dawoud, Abdulhadi Haddad, Yehya Amer, Hatem Khaimi, Mohammed Shaliyah and Mohammed Al-Khilaiwi.
Preliminary Course for Goalkeepers: On Wednesday Prince Sultan ibn Fahd, president of Youth Welfare Presidency and Saudi Football Federation, has approved the holding of the third preliminary course for the football goalkeepers. The SFF will organize the course with support from the Riyadh Academy for Bringing Out Leaders from March 18-29. The names of the nominated people from each club to attend the course are: Abdulrahman Al-Malki (Al-Rabea), Abdulrahman Al-Hamdan (Al-Shabab), Hamad Al-Olayan (Al-Oyoun), Hassan Abu Nokhaa (Damk), Khamees Al-Khamees (Al-Tuhami), Ibrahim Al-Asmi (Abha), Wathig Abudiah (Al-Amjad), Yousif Al-Jumaiah (Hajar), Turki Al-Sultan (Sadous), Mansour Al-Kasim (Al-Hilal), Sultan Al-Mufrij (Al-Sum), Abbas Al-Takrouni (Al-Wehda), Sulaiman Al-Issa (Al-Nassar), Abdulaziz Touri (Al-Ansar), Ahmad Al-Fuhaid (Al-Raid), Nasser Al-Rabea (Al-Mahmal), Nasser Al-Mihamadi (Al-Ittihad), Ahmad Al-Omairi (Al-Jabalin) and Musfir Al-Shamrani (Al-Ahli).
13th Royal Navy Forces Championship: The Air Forces Academy in Jeddah will host the 13th Royal Navy Forces Championship from March 11-29. A total of 13 teams are now in training for the event. Technical Executive Director at the championship Capt. Ibrahim Al-Aseeri said: “This championship runs every two years with coordination between the branches of troops following the rules of the Olympics.” This event was hosted before at the King Abdul Aziz base.
Equestrian Tournaments: Jeddah hosted yesterday its 17th equestrian race for this year consisting of five races. At stake in the first race for imported horses over a distance of 2,000 meters was the Equestrian Club Cup. Second race prize was a car offered by Sulaiman Al-Jabri. The distance for this race limited to local horses is 2, 400 meters. Third race for the trophy of the sons of Talal Hassan Khalifa featuring Gulf horses covered a distance of 1, 200 meters. Local horses contested the fourth race for the Arab National Bank trophy at 1, 200 meters and at stake in the fifth race prize was the Ministry of Media and Culture Cup where local horses raced over 2, 000 meters. In Buraidah, equestrian fans on Wednesday enjoyed the 16th race meeting in Al-Qaseem. Four races made up the program. Al-Barakah Al-Taibah Group sponsored the second race prize and the third race was for the martyr Maj. Ghazai Al-Mutairi Cup. Tashrif, owned by Abdulilah Al-Munsalih, won the first race at 1, 600 meters race. The winner in the second race at 1, 600 meters was Ward Al-Riyadh, also owned by Al-Munsalih. The third open race at 2, 400 meters went to Rowah, owned by Omar Al-Marshoudi. Winning the 2, 000 meters fourth race for novices was Saleh Al-Hammad’s Amhouja.
