JEDDAH, 12 March 2006 — The General Organization for Grain Silos and Flourmills (GOGSF) will start paying tomorrow arrears worth SR926 million to wheat producers for purchases it had made during 2004 season, according to Agriculture Minister Fahd Balghaneim, who is chairman of GOGSF’s board of directors. Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah had instructed authorities to pay the dues of all farmers and agricultural companies for the purchases of their crops in 2004 season. More than 4,000 farmers will benefit from the new payment, the minister said.
Campaign to Find Jobs for Saudis
JEDDAH, 12 March 2006 — A 12-day campaign was launched at College of Technology here yesterday to find jobs for 700 to 800 young Saudis. The event offers an opportunity for Saudi jobseekers to meet with private sector executives and get attractive jobs after displaying their skills. Jobs in 70 professions are on the offer. The campaign comes at the heels of a meeting organized by Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) last Wednesday, which brought together owners of private companies as well as officials in charge of training and employment. JCCI Secretary-General Muhammad Al-Sharief said his organization had given top priority to the training and employment of Saudis.
