RIYADH, 22 March 2006 — Crown Prince Sultan, deputy premier and minister of defense and aviation, announced yesterday that a separate budget had been set aside to develop all the four sectors of the armed forces.
“The amount allocated for this purpose by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah will be complete next year,” the Saudi Press Agency quoted the crown prince as saying during a meeting with top commanders.
The new budget allocation comes as part of the government’s efforts to strengthen the armed forces, which lacked modernization measures during the past six years.
