BURAIDAH, 22 March 2006 — A 50-year Saudi football fan was pronounced dead on arrival to a local hospital, the Al-Watan daily reported yesterday. According to fans that attended a match, the man was seen standing and cheering enthusiastically for his favorite team, which had just scored a goal, when his ticker gave out. The man fell over with a heart attack as fan rushed unsuccessfully to his aid. The situation could be worse: It was a goal by his favorite team that did him in, rather than a self-goal.
