On the occasion of the great independence and national day, I convey my heartfelt greetings and congratulations to my fellow countrymen home and abroad.
The historic independence and national day is a glorious day in our national life. On this solemn day, I convey my deep respect to the martyrs of the liberation war and pray for the salvation of their souls. I would like to congratulate and express my deep sense of gratitude to the valiant freedom fighters and the countrymen for their supreme sacrifices and cooperation in achieving our long cherished independence.
The utmost sacrifice and unmatched valor of the people from all walks of life, political leaders, supporters and organizers of liberation war, member of armed forces and valiant freedom fighters are written in golden letters in our national history. The nation fondly remembers the immense contribution of the freedom fighters for their valued contribution. On this solemn day, I respectfully recall the role of the late President Ziaur Rahman whose bold and courageous declaration of the war of independence that guided and inspired the nation and the people to take part in the liberation war.
One of the prime objectives of our independence was to build a happy, prosperous and self-reliant Bangladesh. Keeping that in mind, we have achieved significant progress in the field of food production, health care services, family planning, environment, rural infrastructure, empowerment of women, communication and information technology, sanitation, safe water supply system, etc. Democratic advancement is also attained in the country. Concerted efforts and stability are imperative for continuing progress and success. Unity is a must for ensuring national development. Progress and prosperity in all aspects of national life can only be achieved if we devote ourselves in nation building and keep national interest above everything.
On this great independence and national day, I urge the citizens, living at home and abroad, to work unitedly with continued efforts aimed at upliftment of society, economic self-reliance and democratic advancement.
