On the auspicious occasion of 35th anniversary of the independence and national day of Bangladesh, March 26, I extend my heartiest felicitations to the brotherly people and government of Saudi Arabia and expatriate Bangladeshis living in the Kingdom.

The war of liberation is the most glorious event in our national history. The war began in March 1971, with the historic proclamation of independence by the late President Ziaur Rahman. We achieved independence after a nine-month long struggle following supreme sacrifice of millions of martyrs. I pay tribute to the martyrs and do pray to the Almighty Allah for the salvation of the departed souls. On this joyous occasion, I congratulate the valiant fighters.

Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia are enjoying excellent relations at bilateral and multilateral levels. Both countries are committed to further strengthening the existing bond of relations. I extend my gratitude to the government of Saudi Arabia for employing a significant number of Bangladeshis who are making valuable contributions to the economic development of the Kingdom. I call upon our expatriates in Saudi Arabia to abide by the law of the Kingdom.

I solicit the continued efforts of our expatriate community in upholding the positive image of Bangladesh in this holy land.

I would like to place on record my sincere appreciation for the valuable support and cooperation extended by our expatriates in discharging their responsibilities for the good of the nation.

I renew my commitment to ensuring better and prompt services with their continued support.

I wish our expatriates continued peace, prosperity and happiness.

Long live Saudi-Bangladesh friendship.
