JEDDAH, 30 March 2006 — The Indian government has decided to set up a scholarship scheme for the children of persons of Indian origin and non-resident Indians for their higher education. Under the scheme, 100 admission-cum-scholarships will be offered for undergraduate courses in engineering and technology, humanities and liberal arts, commerce, management, journalism, hotel management, and agriculture and animal husbandry to partially fund the tuition fees, particularly for the technical courses. The scholarships will be offered on the basis of entrance tests result. Last date for receipt of applications is April 5. G.S.
