JEDDAH, 30 March 2006 — A five-day exhibition featuring all aspects of the booming construction sector opens at the Jeddah International Exhibition & Convention Center on Saturday.
Jeddah Mayor Adel Fakieh will open the Saudi Building Industries Exhibition, which will showcase building material, equipment and hardware, electricity, safety and security, water and waste management, environmental solutions and conservation, and lighting and interiors.
“In fact, the expo will cover all sectors that are set for huge growth as part of Saudi Arabia’s construction boom,” Zahoor Siddique, exhibitions director of Al-Harithy Company for Exhibitions, told reporters yesterday.
The show has been designed as the platform for a wide range of products serving the construction sector, including building materials, heating and cooling technology, water technology and the environment, flooring, cleaning and maintenance, glass and aluminum, roofing and cladding, real estate and architecture and engineering. It will also feature a wide and diverse range of lighting and interiors products.
In addition to Gulf exhibitors, companies from Turkey, Italy, Germany, China, India, Taiwan and Malaysia are all participating alongside a large contingent from leading Saudi companies.
The event coincides with the ongoing intense construction activity across the city and the Kingdom, and the ambitious King Abdullah Economic City project. The Saudi Council of Engineers is organizing a high profile symposium on various topics related to the construction industry at the show venue.
“Saudi Arabia invested more than $725 billion in its infrastructure between 1970 and 2003, of which over 50 percent was invested over the last 12 years,” Zahoor added.
According to him, the Kingdom’s increasing industrialization and burgeoning population is placing intense pressure on all areas of its infrastructure, “Saudi Building Industries Exhibition encompasses the most needed sectors and provides a unique platform for suppliers to display the latest products and services to a discerning high profile audience of business professionals.”
