The final match between Al-Khaleej and Al-Nour takes place today at the Prince Naif Sport City in Qateef.
At stake are bragging rights as champions in the Saudi Handball League.
Mohammed Al-Matroud, president of the Saudi Handball Federation, will present the awards during the prize distribution ceremony on behalf of Prince Sultan ibn Fahd, president of both the General Presidency of Youth Welfare and Saudi Football Federation.
Tennis: The Mobily Tennis Tournament ends today with the singles final matches in the First Division and Under-12 category starting 4 p.m. at the Saudi Tennis Federation Stadium in Riyadh. Kingdom’s No. 1 Fahd Al-Saad, from the Ittihad Center, will be up against Omar Al-Thagib, from Al-Washm, in the First Division final. Al-Saad is heavily favored over Al-Thagib as he guns for his fourth championship. Al-Thagib has never won in three meetings against Al-Saad.
To dispute the Under-12 final will be Al-Waleed Al-Sabah from Ittihad Center and Mohammed Obaid from Al-Nojoum.
Saudi Tennis Federation secretary-general and chief of the technical committee, Rasheed Abu Rashid, encouraged all tennis fans to attend the final of one of the the biggest tournaments in the Kingdom. The third Saudi sport Channel will air the matches live.
Cross-Country Race: King Khalid University in Abha hosted on Tuesday the sixth annual cross-country race at the King Abdulaziz Round Road. Four groups namely students, university staff, university employees and citizens entered the race.
Basketball: Prince Talal ibn Badr, president of both the Saudi and Arab Basketball Federation conducted a lecture at the King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah titled, “The Saudi Basketball Development.”
Meantime, the Saudi Under-23 Basketball Tournament continues in Al-Madinah from May 1-5. Al-Hilal Club in Riyadh would also be hosting Al-Ahli, Al-Ittihad and Al-Qadisiya in the finals at the youth league from May 3 to 7.
Goal Ball: The Kingdom’s National Goal Ball team scored an 11-4 victory against UAE in the 32nd Tournament for the Handicapped in the GCC. They then reached the final against Bahrain, winning by 11- 2. The tournament began on April 22 in Bahrain.
Archery: The Saudi Archery Federation concluded the tournaments that ran from April 15 to 26 and had around 107 participants. The tournament was part of the Kingdom national team’s preparations for the World Cup Archery to be held in Italy, Germany and Egypt. The players were divided into three groups namely beginners, first division and main division. Abdullah Al-Saghir, secretary-general at the Saudi Archery Federation, praised the level of performance of the national players and is optimistic of seeing greater efforts at the Archery World Cup.
Equestrian: Buraidah held on Wednesday their 22 Equestrian Tournament on the Al-Qasim TV Cup and the Trophy of the Martyr Nawaf Al-Harbi. The race meeting at Buraidah Equestrian Club consisted of four races . Winner at the first open race over a distance of 1,600 meters for mares was Mahboubah, owned by Amjad Al-Suwaid. The second race for novices over 1, 400 meters went to Mudmija owned by Abdulilah Al-Munsalih who received the martyr’s cup. The third open race winner was Al-Ashdag owned by Al-Asayel Stable. For the victory in the race over 1,400 meters Ashdag received the Al-Qaseem TV Cup. Areeb, owend by Khalid Al-Sahgir, claimed the fourth race over 1,600 meters.
