JEDDAH, 10 May 2006 — Manarat Jeddah has emerged as the winner of In 10 So Olympic Games held at the Serafi Mega Mall. Dar Al-Bayan and Al-Anjal schools took second and third places respectively. The remaining seven places went to Dar Al-Fikr, Al-Ikhlas, Jeel Al-Faisal, Thagr Jeddah, Riyadh Al-Quran, Al-Andalus and Jeddah Private School, according to the results announced yesterday.

In all 10 private schools participated in the games organized by In 10 So at the Serafi Mega Mall on four different days recently. Competitions in karting, dart, wall climbing, pooling, billiards and playstations marked the games.

In individual performances, Al-Anjal ranked first in dart followed by Jeel Al-Faisal second and Manarat Jeddah third. In wall climbing, Dar Al-Fikr was first followed by Al-Ikhlas in second and Al-Anjal in third positions.

Jeel Al-Faisal topped the play station competition, with Al-Anjal in second and Al-Anjal in third positions.

In pooling, Al-Ikhlas was first, while Thagr Jeddah took second and Manarat Jeddah third positions.

In karting, Dar Al-Fikr came first followed by Dar-Al Bayan and Manarat Jeddah in second and third places.

Saleh Al-Turki, chairman of social development committee (SDC), Makkah Region, congratulated the winners and presented cups and prizes to both winning schools and their individual performers. “Such activities are useful for our school boys, as they can make use of their free time to develop their skills in sport activities,” Al-Turki said. He also thanked the organizers for making the first such games a success.

Abdullah Bakhashab, who organized the games, said the response from schools was overwhelming. He said the presence of Al-Turki and Dr. Anwar Mufti, secretary-general, SDC, demonstrated their interest in supporting and promoting such sports activities.

“The main objective of such games is to inform students about new activities in which they can involve and develop skills and become professional competitors,” Bakhashab said.

“We’re fully prepared to support and encourage our boys to develop such sports and enable them to participate in competitions both inside and outside the Kingdom,” he added.
