JEDDAH, 19 May 2006 — Prince Sultan ibn Fahd, president of the Youth Welfare Presidency, has approved the delay in the election of the board of directors of the Al-Qadisiya Club.

The move follows a request by the Badghish Group, a major contender in the election headed by the former president, Ali Ahmad Badghish, according to Jassem Al-Yaqut, the current president who is also running for the post.

Jassem told Arab News “the voters’ list presented by each group should supply details such as the time when a member became a club member.” Both the aspirants to the coveted post have been campaigning in full throttle over the past two weeks. Jassem said to Arab News that he won the support of 1,200 members while Badghish could only garner support from 600.

“I welcome any election based on gentlemanly competition aimed at the welfare of the club with my friend and brother Ali Badghish,” he said.
