RIYADH, 9 June 2006 — Cashing in on the interest generated by the World Cup, a major local food chain has launched a promotional blitz Kingdomwide.
Pizza Inn, with its partners Pepsi, has started a high-profile “Scratch n Win” promotion in which every customer visiting an outlet of Pizza Inn will be a winner, announced Khushru Mistry, Pizza Inn’s general manager, here yesterday.
Mistry said: “On purchase of every three medium pizzas for SR55, a customer will get three one-liter Pepsi and a scratch card with a guaranteed prize.” The press briefing to announce the promotion was also attended by Raj Shah, Pizza Inn’s marketing head for Saudi Arabia & Qatar, Abdel Majid M. M. Al-Qaisi, operations manager; Shoeb Khan, regional manager, and Ahmad Barakat, Pepsi/Al-Jomaih key account executives.
A large number of Saudis and expatriates will join the more than 1.5 billion people worldwide expected to watch Germany playing against Costa Rica on television today.
“Pizza Inn is happy to announce this promotion and also introduce a 20-riyal mixed platter dish on the occasion of the World Cup,” said Mistry. “We are showing the sports channels for customers, who can watch the matches in out dining outlets across the Kingdom,” said Raj.
Referring to the promotional program and the quality in service offered by this food chain, Mistry and Shah said that “the competition in pizza segment was fierce and the real challenge would be to exceed customer expectations always, all the time.” To this end, Mistry noted that “our customer base has been growing progressively with over 4,500 customers currently on the delivery rolls of any randomly selected outlet.”
“We are also about to launch a major customer loyalty program within next 60 days,” said Shah, Pizza Inn’s head of marketing, while referring to the high nutritional value of Pizza Inn products. Referring to the promotional program, Shah said that “value-based campaigns would be conducted throughout the year. Our brand strengths of fresh dough/generous toppings and service with a smile will be further emphasized thru our media blitz.”
Spelling out the details of the promotion, Pizza Inn Operations Manager Abdul Majid said that they would distribute a number of gift items like footballs, sports bags and acrylic glasses under the “Scratch n Win” promotion. He said that Pizza Inn had been organizing training programs on a regular basis to keep updating staff on brand strengths and service standards. “We are already offering a new mixed platter for SR20,” Majid said.
This platter, he said, included tasty chicken wings, cheese sticks, potato wedges and onion rings. Majid said that the Pizza Inn had also been involved in several charity works in the Kingdom. In 1991, Pizza Inn opened its first restaurant in Saudi Arabia. This food chain, owned and operated by the United Food Company, is part of the Abdullah Abunayyan Group. It is currently on expansion course with a plan to add several locations to its existing operations in the Kingdom and Qatar.
