JEDDAH, 19 February 2007 — Mazda Zoom Zoom roared farther away from the field winning their fourth Team of the Week award in five weeks during the fifth session in the Monday Night Bowling League 6th Conference at the Jeddah Lanes here.
But this time, however, Mazda had to share the accolade with PinShock Zone after both teams ended level on 37.5 points.
Insektos were on 36 points followed by Jeddah Lanes on 35. Defending champions Al-Mottawer were on 30 to round out the teams that scored 30 points or better.
Sunrise International School finished sixth in the session on 29.5 points, while Ventuno Production and International were equal on 28. The last four places in the order of finish during the fifth week went to Lipton Tea 21, Bugshan 15.5, Deaf Club of Jeddah 10 and Farisbowling.com 5. Neither Mazda nor Pinshock won a game but the former did finish No. 1 in the overall output at 3,084. The game winners, Mottawer, Jeddah Lanes and Insektos, were all unable to complete a performance that would bring them to the top. In contrast, both Mazda and Pinshock found some degree of consistency to separate them from the rest of the pack.
Besides getting the first place in overall output Mazda came in second to Insektos in the third game thanks mainly to the pair of Jerry Arcos and Nick Guzon who carded 637 and 633.
Val Magsino was the other player to complete full games for Mazda at 612 while Rally Zamora, the only other Class O bowler on the team besides Magsino, added 205-215. Igna Salgado had games of 212-223 to count and Ryan Tan contributed 151-196.
In tying Mazda for honors Pinshock reclaimed the second spot they lost to previous week honoree Farisbowling who had a miserable night and as a result hurtled down to sixth in the standings of the five-man team league event sponsored by Jeddah Lanes.
Goying Salazar was the top man at Pinshock as he pieced together games of 228, 221 and 225 for 674, while the trio of Rey Beltran, Ruben Medina and Gerry Mandanas came through with 629, 608 and 573. Leo Edejer compiled 166-171 and Bert Tuvera 170 to complete the team’s games.
Hero Garcia at 642 and Nonie Yap at 616 were the only Insektos to do full games and the rest of the games shared out among Dhads Gueco 170-208, Zaldy Parinas 204-267, Sid Lapena 165-220 and Arnold Alday 179-206. Hashim Guinomla of Lipton Tea emerged the high series scorer with 684, while Sunrise’s Emil Payongayong 661, Faisal Fintayani of Mottawer 653, Raffy Masiglat of Jeddah Lanes 654 and Ventuno’s Mamdouh Ali 641 were the other notable scorers of the night.
