MADINAH, 22 February 2007 — A traditional intercity match will be played between Madinah Cricket Association and the visiting Jeddah Cricket League tomorrow, according to Zahid Ali, president of the MCA.
The match featuring Madinah President XI and JCL President XI will be played at Al-Aqool cricket ground.
The MCA is the organizer of the event. Both teams are to report at 7:15 a.m. in the venue and after the photo session the match will start at 7:45 a.m. There will be break for prayer at 11:45 a.m. and the game will resume at 2:30 p.m. Prize distribution ceremony will be held at 5 p.m.
Saud Derwesh Hakeem, the head of Baladiya Al-Awali, will be the chief guest. The other dignitaries and number of spectators of the city are expected to attend the match.
A committee has been set up to look after the arrangements of the event.
The committee members are Hashmat Qazi, vice president MCA; Arshed Raza, secretary tournament; Amanat, joint secretary; Fayaz, M. Aslam Idrees, Habib-ur-Rahman, Khalid Bhatti and Abdullah Jan are the members of the committee.
Asim Shah will officiate the match, while Habeeb-ur-Rahman and Mohammed Aslam Idrees have been appointed as official scorer and coordinator to JCL, respectively.
A prize distribution ceremony will be in two sessions. In the first session, the prizes will be awarded to the teams and players who participated in 1st MCA Sadafco Cup. Afsar Faheem of JCL will be chief guest for the first session. In the second session, Saud Derwesh Hakeem will award the prizes to the participants in the intercity match. A special sitting arrangement has been made for the families.
