ABU DHABI, 24 June 2007 — UAE will participate in the 40th meeting of the Customs Union committee of GCC due to be held in Riyadh on July 1-4. Assistant director of the Federal Customs Authority (FCA) Saeed Al-Marri, who will head the UAE delegation to Riyadh, said the meeting would discuss the mechanism for the joint collection and distribution of customs duties among the member states. The meeting will also discuss the operational aspects of various agreements GCC countries have signed with US. Al-Marri added that the meeting would talk about ways for overcoming impediments faced by the union in implementing its plans.
