RIYADH, 24 June 2007 — Some men might find it hard to express their love and passion for their wives, but when it comes to winning a SR100,000 diamond jewelry set as a prize, there is no doubt that men will hardly be able to compete to seek their wives’ love. This happened recently during a poem competition that was held at Alfaisaliah Hotel in Riyadh.

The Diamond Trading Company (DTC) hosted the competition for the best poet to express his romantic feelings for his wife in verse. The competition, which aired on the MBC-FM radio program “Rawdat Almashaheer” included ten Saudi contenders and offered the top three finalists a diamond jewelry set and other prizes worth SR100,000.

“We wanted to encourage married men to remember their wives with sweet words and also a gift of diamonds, which are of course a girl’s best friend,” said MBC-FM radio host Ali Alkodairi.

During the two-hour live broadcast, ten poems were read. The winner, Atallah Al-Qahtani was awarded a SR75,000 diamond jewelry set.
