AMMAN, 28 April 2007 — A consortium of firms, led by Airports de Paris on Thursday won a tender for the expansion of Jordan’s Queen Alia International Airport with an estimated cost of $450 million, Transport Minister Saud Nseirat announced. The coalition also includes the Greek-Cypriot Group J&P, Abu Dhabi Investment Corporation, Kuwait’s Noor Financial Investments Co. and the Amman-based EDGO Ventures. The consortium was chosen from six coalitions of international firms which vied for the contract, Nseirat said.
SASO, JISM Sign Cooperation Accord
AMMAN, 28 April 2007 — The Saudi Arabian Standards Organization (SASO) yesterday signed a program of technical cooperation with the Jordan Institution of Standards and Meteorology (JISM), an official statement said. The accord envisages measures for reducing gaps between standards applied in the two countries as well as narrowing the discrepancy in measurements and procedures adopted for the issuance of certificates of origin in the run-up for the conclusion of a two-way agreement on the mutual recognition of the two countries’ local products, the statement added.
