JEDDAH, 14 April 2007 — Princess Sara bint Abdul Mohsen Al-Anqari, wife of Makkah Gov. Prince Abdul Majeed and chairperson of the Higher Women’s Committee for Humanitarian and Social Services, has been named “Pioneering Arab Social Worker” by the International Publishing Center, Egypt.
The center selected the Saudi princess for the prestigious title in appreciation of her charitable, humanitarian and voluntary services in the past 25 years, said Dr. Aliaa Ali, director of foreign relations at the center.
Dr. Ali said Princess Sara’s achievements reflected the progress achieved by Saudi and Arab women at the social, educational and cultural levels.
“Her selection for the title is a good response to the smear campaigns that distort the place of women in Islam,” she added.
The director of foreign relations at the center said the center has published a book entitled “Sara Al-Anqari: A Pioneer in Arab Social and Humanitarian Work” in commemoration of the selection. The book is part of an encyclopedia about Arab women authored by Adel Hafiz.
Hafiz commended Princess Sara’s outstanding role in taking up social issues.
