JEDDAH, 19 April 2007 — The Modern Products Company (MPC) yesterday launched a social program entitled “Let’s Succeed” to train 45 orphans between the ages of 7 and 13 from the Dar Al-Fetian Orphanage.

The program, which has been organized in cooperation with Procter and Gamble and the United Nations Children’s Fund, is being held at Jeddah Science Innovation Club and includes a series of educational courses and workshops that will run for eight consecutive weeks. Self-development experts have designed the courses and workshops.

The objectives of the program, which is being organized for the second year, is to build children’s personality and boost their self-esteem by educating them on several subjects.

Organizers say the program is designed to impact children’s future in an entertaining environment.

Ghada Al-Ghamdi, supervisor of the program, said that the number of participants is higher than last year. “They are more excited and enthusiastic this year to take part in the program,” she said.

The program also aims to improve and strengthen MPC employees’ understanding of voluntary work. Employees will participate in the program’s activities and interact with the orphans.

In the midst of an exciting crowd of MPC employees and orphans, Khaled Abdulrahim, a training consultant who volunteered to design the program, explained to children the objectives of the program.

Wearing white and green caps and T-shirts with the “Let’s Succeed” logo, the boys and MPC employees enthusiastically interacted with Abdulrahim answering his questions about their expectations and future dreams.

“We would like to help you build your future vision, plan your future targets and goals, enhance the idea of cooperation and teamwork, and boost your positive energy,” said Abudulrahim.

He asked Muhammad, a nine-year-old participant, about his future dream. “I want to become a footballer like Arsenal’s Thierry Henry,” he replied.

Abdulrahim asked Muhammad if he had any idea how he could become like Henry and then assured him that, through the training program, he would teach him how to make his dream come true.

MPC says that the idea of such programs stems from an ethos of enhancing the company’s role in the community through the participation of its employees in children training programs in Jeddah, Dammam and Dubai.

Programs consist of gathering a group of needy children at a well-equipped camp set up specifically for the occasion in each city. The programs include competitions and exercises to make the camps amusing and interesting.
