AMMAN, 19 April 2007 — Nobel Laureates will hold their third conference in a row at Jordan’s ancient city of Petra next month to look into means for promoting international understanding and giving a hand to the Arabs and Israelis in their search for peace, the Jordanian Royal Court said yesterday.
The meeting, to be held under the title “Building a Better World” on May 15 and 16, is sponsored by King Abdallah II Fund for Development and the Elie Wiesel Foundation for Humanity.
“We are again convening some of the world’s brightest and most creative minds, Nobel Laureates, to think, talk and contribute to the advancement of various global issues,” a royal court statement quoted Abdallah as saying.
Nobel Laureates from six fields in which the Nobel Prize is awarded each year are expected to attend. According to the royal court, this year’s event will prominently focus on youth that will also extend to discussion on how to enhance educational opportunities for youth in the Middle East, in particular by overcoming the information deficit, the statement said.
