RIYADH, 19 April 2007 — The Pakistan Writers Club, Riyadh, elected its new president for a two-year term. Faiz Al-Najdi was declared president unopposed as no other candidate had filed nomination papers till April 15, which was the deadline set by the election commission.
The PWC is an association of expatriate Pakistani writers, poets and journalists.
Faiz is a noted writer and social worker and a well-known figure among the members of the Pakistani community in Riyadh.
He took over as the acting president of the club on Oct. 22, 2006, when its President Tariq Nadim Sheikh passed away. Faiz was the vice president at that time. He enjoys complete support of the club members.
