JEDDAH, 25 April 2007 — In an attempt to bridge the cultural gap between the Kingdom and Algeria, a group of Algerian artists, actors, poets and writers are currently touring the Kingdom and will be in Jeddah today and tomorrow.
The group, which has previously visited Riyadh and Hail, is giving people in the Kingdom a taste of Algerian literature, drama, the fine arts and folk music.
The group is today performing an Algerian play called “Maha The Shoemaker” at the King Fahd Coastal City at 9 p.m. It is a male-only event. A group of Algerian women poets will read poetry at the Jeddah Literary Club at 9 p.m. to a women-only audience.
Thursday is going to be a music-oriented day. A women Algerian folklore band will perform to a female audience from 9 p.m. till midnight at the King Fahd Coastal City. Meanwhile, men will be able to enjoy poetry and music at the King Abdul Aziz Historical Center.
