MADINAH, 30 April 2007 — In a recent crackdown on lazy market inspectors, municipal authorities here have found a foolproof way to ensure that field workers are at work and not smoking shisha and drinking Turkish coffee at local cafes by using satellite detection systems to keep an eye on them. Muhammad Suleihim, director of municipality, said that officials will now be able to track employees, who are absent from work or fail to meet targets, through the state of the art technology, the daily Okaz reported. Field workers will also be required to submit hourly reports via their cell phones to a computer located at their office.
Cattle-Breeding Sorcerer Arrested
ABHA, 30 April 2007 — An Indian sorcerer, who claimed to possess occult powers that could make cattle breed more, make businesses prosper and locate hidden treasures, was recently arrested at a village outside Abha, the daily Okaz reported yesterday. The man would impress and deceive farmers in the region with his uncanny tricks. Following a tip off, the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice raided the man’s hide-out and caught him red-handed with an array of strange instruments used to dabble in magic.
