Easy Access to Builds of MySQL
Just launched is DorsalSource.org (http://dorsalsource.org), a community-focused website whose goal is to be a place where developers can go to find the binary files they need. The site currently offers builds of solidDB for MySQL and MySQL Server for Linux, Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X. There are already 39 different builds available on the site. In the future, DorsalSource will host additional MySQL-related products on a variety of platforms and will allow developers to contribute new binaries. All scripts for automatic build creation will be contributed to the community and are covered by GNU Public License (GPL).
First Sub $1,000 Toshiba With 17-Inch Screen
Toshiba has brought to market the Satellite P205, a notebook computer line that comes standard with Labelflash, an innovative technology for laser inscribing labels onto recordable DVD-R media, and a built-in webcam for video conferencing, all at a starting price of less than $1,000. Toshiba also offers select models featuring Intel’s new Wireless Wi-Fi Link 4965AGN supporting draft 802.11n1 wireless connectivity with transfer speeds up to five times faster than the previous 802.11g standard.
The Satellite P205 is an Onyx Blue Metallic notebook, with a slightly rounded body-contour, a Windows Vista compliant keyboard with greater key spacing, a wider mouse touchpad and a 17-inch diagonal widescreen TruBrite display. The machine is loaded with Windows Vista Home Premium.
