Many changes are taking place around us. Our era is continuously changing. At the same time we are not making any efforts to ascertain whether these trends are right or wrong. We have roamed the world, read many newspapers, watched different news channels and observed development, revolutions and projects in other countries. But we have never witnessed anything like the red tape present in the Kingdom’s ministries. The bureaucracy rampant in our government ministries needs to be truly questioned and analyzed.
A minister, or one of his representatives, travels to a remote city or region of the Kingdom to lay the foundation of a vital project that should have existed a long time ago. On the project’s opening day, newspaper headlines compete with each other in praising and complementing the “legendary achievements” and the rest of the “historical accomplishments” of the concerned minister and his ministry.
One would also be able to see pictures of the minister and his ministry all over the pages of different publications with the ministry’s employees congratulating each other. Whoever is involved in the project would definitely be participating in this pointless process.
The question is: Who pays the expenses of this festival? The answer is simple: the administrative bodies responsible for the project. The expenses would be either paid straight from the ministry’s budget or through the companies and institutions that the ministry works with. These companies and institutions do not pay money for the sake of charity or out of love for the ministry. They pay for a return that might be in the form of forgoing certain rules by the administration or overlooking shortcomings and flaws in their performance. This is obviously not praiseworthy.
This type of behavior should and must stop. It does seem that there is a great deal of underestimation of people’s minds. These types of habits raise a lot of questions concerning the ministry’s projects, and their integrity and honesty. We must change the way we do things in this country because we are the only nation that still operates in this way.
