JEDDAH, 4 May 2007 — The Consulate General of India has termed as “misleading” reports in a section of press on Tuesday that Indian Cultural Society’s “Tamsili Mushaira” scheduled for May 10 is being held under the patronage of the consulate. In a clarification, Dr. Suhel Ajaz Khan, consul (Haj and P&I), said it was incorrectly stated by the organizers that Consul General Dr. Ausaf Sayeed would be the chief guest at the mushaira. “As a matter of fact, the consul general would be in India on official duty during that period and this fact was unambiguously brought to the notice of the Indian Cultural Society. Still, the society chose to issue the misleading press release in an obvious attempt to wrongfully project to the people and potential sponsors that the mushaira is being organized under the patronage of the consulate.” He clarified that the mushaira is not a consulate-sponsored event.
