RIYADH, 7 May 2007 — The new officeholders of the Pakistan Writers Club-Riyadh (PWC) took oath following the election of Faiz Al-Najdi as its president.
After its reorganization, the PWC now has two wings concerning operation and planning. The operation wing has Ashiq Hussain as its senior vice president and Rehmat Ali Badal as vice president. Sanobar Sani is the senior vice president of the planning wing while H. M. Fayyaz, the vice president.
Secretaries at the operation wing are: Shajahan Sherazi (Press), Zia Ul Hassan (Publication). Secretaries at the planning wing are: Syed Nehal Uddin (Information & Planning) and Gohar Rafiq (Coordination). Rauf Moghul is the new PWC general secretary, Naim Awan is the joint secretary and Syed Bashir Ahmed is the vice president (Finance).
In addition, four community-relations secretaries took oath: Ali Asif (Media), Sajjad Salim (Writers & Poets), Syed Shahid Ahmed (Doctor’s Group) and Omair Tariq Nadim (Youth).
Head of Chancery/Minister at the Embassy of Pakistan Muhammad Sarfraz Khanzada was the chief guest at the oath-taking ceremony held over the weekend.
The chief guest and other speakers, who included Ahmed Yusuf, Asghar Qureshi, Ali Akbar, Shamshad Siddiqui, Riaz Rathore and Parwaz Rafi praised the role of the PWC in bringing the community together.
PWC President Faiz Al-Najdi spoke about the club’s plan for the next two years.
