MAKKAH, 8 May 2007 — Passport officials have arrested an Asian who re-entered the Kingdom using fake travel documents. The man had been arrested and deported earlier after he tested positive for AIDS.
Officials found the man working in a laundry with some friends, who had helped him enter and remain in the Kingdom. According to Passport Department officials, the man was deported a year ago and had returned to the Kingdom on Umrah visa using a fake passport.
The man had apparently lived in the Kingdom for years and found it hard to live in his home country.
Suhail Al-Matrafi, head of the department in charge of expatriate affairs in Makkah, said passport officials traced the man’s identity when he was arrested. He has now been deported for the second time.
Al-Matrafi urged citizens and expatriates to cooperate with the authorities in locating other similar cases.
