DUBAI, 10 May 2007 — The Rosy Blue Masters 2007, an international arts exhibition, will be inaugurated today by Sheikh Majid ibn Muhammad ibn Rashid Al-Maktoum at the One & Only Royal Mirage in Dubai.
Speaking about the 10-day event, Sheikha Manal bint Muhammad ibn Rashid Al-Maktoum, president of the Dubai Ladies Club and president of the Dubai Women Establishment, said: “The Rosy Blue Masters is a unique exhibition and a unique experience to be held in the Arab world. It brings together art connoisseurs and enthusiasts from different parts of the world under one roof. The exhibition presents an opportunity for art fans and for the community to rediscover masterpieces that have stood the test of time.”
She added: “There is no doubt that organizing cultural and art events on such a high level in the UAE in general and Dubai in particular, reflects the rich culture and civilization that this country has. It is a country that has not only attracted different nationalities, but has also become renowned for the role that it plays in supporting culture and the arts; both of which are considered important pillars of civilization and contribute to bridging cultures and understanding.”
Sheikha Manal said: “We wish this exhibition all the success for its second year in Dubai, as it establishes its place in the cultural calendar as one of the major events to be held annually for fans of both ancient and modern art.”
The exhibition will feature contemporary works of art by Sheikha Manal and UAE artists. Contemporary artists from the Middle Eastern and North African region as well as South Asia, Taiwan, South Korea and Latin America will also be represented. These include the likes of Shirin Neshat, Kim Sooja, and Arman. Besides paintings, the Rosy Blue Masters event includes sculptures, video art, public art installations and Islamic calligraphy.
