DUBAI, 10 May 2007 — The Deira International School (DIS) and the Universal American School (UAS), located in the Dubai Festival City, have both announced that they have been authorized by the International Baccalaureate Diploma Organization (IBO) to offer IB Diploma Programs — a pre-university preparatory program for advanced studies and a worldwide symbol of academic excellence.
Managed by Educational Services Overseas Limited (ESOL) — a regional operator of international schools — UAS and DIS will offer the two-year, pre-university study program from the beginning of the 2007-2008 academic year, facilitating international mobility for further education at some of the world’s most prestigious universities.
Apart from UAS and DIS, there are only a few schools in the UAE that are authorized to offer the IB Diploma Program.
Bassam Abushakra, ESOL’s regional director, said: “UAS and DIS opened in 2005 and within a relatively short time have been authorized to offer this prestigious program.
