JEDDAH, 14 May 2007 — The new Audi TT Coupe made its debut here yesterday. “The Audi TT is a design icon and design icons are untouchable. We have changed the TT by redefining and reinterpreting it in order to make the icon even more resolute in its second generation,” Salah Z. Yamout, general manager at Saudi Arabian Marketing and Agencies Co. Ltd., Jeddah branch, told a launch press conference at the SAMACO-Audi showroom on Madinah Road.
A sports car is an uncompromising vehicle. It combines clarity and form with advanced engineering. It offers optimum driving pleasure. The TT combines all those virtues in a sporty, authentic manner, he added.
The new Audi TT Coupe is a sports car that is characterized by elemental forms and an enthralling driving performance, completely captivating inside and out.
Inlays in aluminum laser give a sporty accent. Sports leather steering wheel with flattened base, ergonomically formed sports seats with integrated head restraints. “It is pure sporting elegance,” he added.
The Audi space-frame body, with its innovative combination of aluminum and steel, ensures a more dynamic drive, greater stability and better acceleration.
“The new car is targeted at young and trendy Saudis,” Yamout said. It has more punch and less consumption. It comes with a two liter four-cylinder engine with turbocharger and also a 3.2 liter V6 engine for more power and dynamism.
The rear spoiler of the Audi TT Coupe extends automatically at 120 km/h and improves driving stability. At 80 km/h, it retracts again harmonically into the lines of the car’s rear end. “Or you can simply activate the spoiler at the touch of a button,” he said, adding that the coupe’s adaptive damper system adjusts its suspension to the current road conditions, whether tight corners, long straights or bumps.
Its large brakes give shorter braking distances and excellent stability. Its safety features include two-stage full-size airbags, head-thorax side airbags in the front plus side impact protection and the backguard.
One can choose any color variation for the car. “In fact, we can provide any color that you opt for in our production lines,” he said.
According to Yamout, sales increased in the last few years and there has been a big jump across the Kingdom.
“This is due to our investment in after-sales service,” he said, adding that the company opened a second service center in Riyadh in addition to a boutique recently and many more projects are on hand.
