NEW DELHI, 19 May 2007 — Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati has kept with her most of the key portfolios, including home, included her top aide S.C. Mishra in her Cabinet and gave charge of nine ministries to her close lieutenant and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP)General Secretary Naseemuddin Siddiqui.
Allocating the portfolios days after being sworn in, Mayawati kept, home, finance, vigilance, personnel and 24 other departments with herself, official sources said.
Mishra, the Brahmin face of the BSP and a key component of Mayawati’s social engineering that reaped electoral success for BSP, has been attached to the chief minister. He was sworn in as a cabinet minister on Thursday.
Siddiqui has been given charge of nine departments including PWD, excise and irrigation. The important portfolio of parliamentary affairs has been given to Lalji Verma while Nakul Dube was given urban development, institutional finance, tax and registration.
The information department has been given to Sudhir Goyal.
