JEDDAH, 19 May 2007 — A delegation of 16 Saudi businessmen will be in Brazil next week to talk to Brazilian industry executives. They will participate on Monday and Tuesday in business roundtables at the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, in the southeastern Brazilian city of São Paulo. The Saudi businessmen will also travel to the Brazilian capital Brasília, and to Rio de Janeiro.
“These businessmen have great potential, they are prominent businessmen in Saudi Arabia. We are expecting to make good contacts because they are coming to do business. They will come in possession of information about the Brazilian market, they will come knowing what they are interested in,” the President at the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce Antonio Sarkis Jr. said.
The chamber is organizing the visit of the Saudi mission to Brazil, along with the Saudi Arabian Embassy in Brasília. “All Gulf countries are undergoing a process of investment and modernization. This is yet another opportunity for Brazilian businessmen,” Sarkis said.
The activities of the Saudis in Brazil will kick off with a conference, to be held on Monday at the headquarters of the Arab Brazilian Chamber. The conference will feature speeches by the heads of the delegation, as well as by the president of the Arab Brazilian Chamber, and its secretary general. The business roundtables will take place in the afternoon, from 03:00 pm to 06:00 pm, and also on Tuesday, between 10:00 am and 04:00 pm. They will pay a visit to the Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo on Wednesday.
Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce Secretary General Michel Alaby said “this will be another opportunity for us to broaden the basket of products exported by Brazil to Saudi Arabia.”
The majority of Saudi businessmen are from trading companies. The sectors in which they are interested in are foodstuffs, automotive, construction and engineering, electric appliances, electronics, agricultural equipment, electrical equipment and systems, medical equipment, disposable material and packaging, furniture and decoration items, perfumes, cleaning products and animal feed. They are also interested in discussing investment and the transportation sector.
