AUD
Thirteen students of the visual communication department (VCD) of American University in Dubai (AUD) displayed their best works at the annual eight-day Senior Student Exhibition entitled ‘Made’ that ended recently. Every year, since May 2000, senior students have the opportunity to showcase their work, interact with members of the design, arts, and media industry and seek job placements in major graphic design and advertising companies in the UAE. The exhibition also gave other students in the VCD a chance to see the kind of work they are expected to produce in their senior year. The exhibition represented projects that were conceived through brainstorming and research. The final designs were refined and improved through a process of regularly conducted critique sessions held in class under the guidance of the professors and in collaboration with fellow classmates. Among the disciplines presented in this year’s exhibition were graphic design, creative advertising, and photography.

SAMSUNG
Samsung has developed a new appliance that combines the functions of a traditional oven and a microwave at the same time, the Korean electronics giant said in Jeddah on Saturday. With its revolutionary design, a major advance in the world of microwave ovens, the new product depends on a healthy and fast pentagonal heating system that combines a 1500W dual heating system from the right and left with two internal fans that distribute the air, a dual grill from the top and bottom and a 900W microwave with a turntable to provide the best possible results in the shortest possible time. It can also be used for fried and grilled foods, preserving the same flavors obtained from charcoal grilling in a healthy and rapid manner. The microwave has been coated with an internal, non-scratch, anti-leak ceramic surface. This technology was first pioneered by Samsung, and is now employed in all its microwaves and internal self-cleaning stem systems.
