JEDDAH, 26 May 2007 — Twenty Saudi students, who graduated from the Academy of Mohamed Al-Hamrani for Training and Development, were honored with certificates at a weekend ceremony.
“This is a new group graduating from the academy, which was established in November 2005,” Mohamed A. Alhamrani, president and CEO of Al-Hamrani United Company, which runs the academy, said at the ceremony held at the Westin Hotel.
The group represents a selection of educated young men who have received training ranging from six to nine months in different fields of trade and industry, he said, adding that all graduates so far have been employed in the company’s facilities Kingdomwide.
Emphasizing the need for more such academies, Alhamrani said his company took upon the responsibility of establishing an academy with a view to providing young Saudis training with skills and make them qualified for various jobs. “We are only contributing to the Kingdom’s efforts that is engaged in providing schools, universities and institutes in the interest of our youth and make them responsible and useful citizens,” he said.
He reminded that some developments had taken place in providing training to young Saudis, one of them being Saudi Japanese Automobile High Institute, which has been training young Saudis and employing them across the Kingdom.
“This is also the result of cooperation between the governments of Saudi Arabia and Japan on the one hand and the national agents of cars on the other,” Al-Hamrani said.
“All the graduates of such training programs are well-qualified to take up responsible jobs and bring pride to the Kingdom,” he added.
He said it was the duty of all Saudi establishments and business houses to provide training facilities to young Saudis.
“We have to help them as much as we can. I hope to see the day when they occupy all departments in the industry, including administration, customer service, marketing, spare parts and sales,” he said.
“Our commitment is not limited to training and graduating them, but also to find jobs for them to enable them lead a life with confidence and a secured future,” he said.
Speaking on behalf of the company’s administration, Khalid Al-Ghamdi outlined the academy’s goals and objectives, intake of student batches and study syllabus.
Khalid Hamid Badr Al-Harbi, speaking on behalf of the graduate students, said all the graduates of his batch were thankful to the academy for offering training and making them able job seekers. “We can now compete with the best in the industry,” he said.
The graduates received certificates from both Alhamrani and Ahmed A. Alhamrani, chief operating officer of the company. Academy General Manager Dr. Abu Obeida Khairi Hafiz was also honored with a memento.
Aside from Al-Harbi, who topped the training program, two other new graduates who emerged second and third — Ra’ad Tareq Hassan Motwakel and Hadi Ali Mohamed Madraba — received special awards.
