NAJRAN, 27 May 2007 — A 35-year-old security officer is in stable condition at a hospital in this southern city after allegedly murdering his 50-year-old mother and his two sisters, both in their early 20s, before turning the murder weapon, a nine-millimeter handgun, on himself in a failed attempt to commit suicide.
Local newspapers yesterday reported that Najran police said the homicide and attempted suicide took place at around 11:30 a.m. on Friday in a residential district of this border town.
Dr. Mohammed Al-Saquoor, director of King Khaled Hospital in Najran, said the three women died immediately after they were each shot in the head.
The security officer, on the other hand, survived his attempt to kill himself with a gunshot to the head. The bullet went through his mandible jaw but the officer survived the blow. He remains in hospital in stable condition.
