DUBAI, 1 June 2007 — Hala Sarhan host of the popular show the “Hala Show,” has been removed from her current position in the Rotana television channel and replaced by her friend Enas Al-Daghaidi, an experienced film director.
“The company has decided to terminate the contract of Hala Sarhan and remove her from her position,” Deutsche Presse-Agentur quoted Ayman Al-Halawani, director general of film productions at Rotana as saying on Wednesday.
Ayman denied that her dismissal had anything to do with the controversy that followed a feature she did on prostitutes on her famous “Hala Show.”
He said the company’s administration decided to terminate her services as she overstayed her medical leave in the United States.
According to sources, Hala was consulted on who should replace her and Enas was Hala’s own choice. It is not yet known if the show will be renamed as the “Enas Show.”
Najran Governor Gives Hitchhiker a Ride Home
NAJRAN, 1 June 2007 — So you’re walking along the side of a road trying to catch a ride home from some nice guy, and lo and behold the guy who picks you up turns out to be royalty.
This is what happened to a technical school student in this southern Saudi city, a local newspaper reported recently.
Prince Mishal ibn Saud, governor of Najran, stopped to pick up the student who was sweating in the heat. It wasn’t until he dropped the kid off at home that he mentioned who he was.
The prince then posed with the student for a picture because the student was sure nobody would believe his story unless he could show some proof.
