LOS ANGELES, 3 June 2007 — Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA) vision and mission statement won the support of prominent American business leaders as a result of the five-day US visit of Governor Amr Al-Dabbagh last month.

Al-Dabbagh, governor of SAGIA, presented the investment body’s vision, mission and value proposition to hundreds of global business leaders in the mainland that took him to four states and five key cities.

“The American private sector is beginning to grasp the potential of the Saudi market in our targeted sectors and we are seeing a resurgence of US interest, especially through collaboration on our competitiveness agenda and through investing in our economic cities. These greenfield projects are universally viewed as ideal opportunities for innovation and the rewriting and reinvention of existing business models. Everyone we talked to agreed that nothing like these cities have ever existed anywhere in the world at any time in history.”

On the first day of his visit, Al-Dabbagh gave presentations on two separate occasions to New York City’s leading CEOs and chairmen in workshops specifically designed to showcase SAGIA’s 5-year investment strategy and the Kingdom’s half-trillion worth of investment opportunities in its targeted sectors and economic cities.

The economy of New York City is one of the largest regional economies in the United States, is the 17th largest economy in the world, and in 2006 the city had a gross product of approximately $457.3 billion, which is nearly $100 billion, larger than the GDP of Switzerland and three times that of the Kingdom’s.

Michael R. Bloomberg, mayor of NYC, was impressed with SAGIA governor’s vision for the Kingdom’s six new economic cities and shared his views on how these remarkable opportunities could be leveraged as global showcases where “better-than-best” in class services are developed and used as models for the entire globe.

Bloomberg brings into public office successful private sector business experience. His company, Bloomberg LP, now employs more than 8,000 people in more than 100 offices worldwide including 2,500 in New York City alone. These synergies with the activities of SAGIA provide a perfect opportunity to establish collaborative networks that will benefit both sides.

From New York City, Al-Dabbagh traveled to St. Louis to attend an MOU signing ceremony with Boeing Chairman, President and CEO Jim McNerney. The agreement outlined Boeing and SAGIA’s intention to cooperate in researching and defining potential projects in Saudi Arabia that would allow transfer of aerospace-related know-how and the creation of jobs in the Kingdom.

“We chose to sign this agreement with Boeing because of the company’s long-standing commitment to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia that dates back 60-plus years, including successful performance on strategic investments and partnerships such as Alsalam,” Al- Dabbagh said. McNerney said the agreement was a historic moment for Boeing to demonstrate its commitment to develop and grow indigenous Saudi aerospace capabilities and transfer cutting-edge technology and create job opportunities in the Kingdom.

In Philadelphia, Al-Dabbagh attended the annual meeting of the board of trustees of The Eisenhower Fellowships, which engages emerging leaders from around the globe to enhance their professional capabilities, broaden their contacts, deepen their perspectives, and unite them in a diverse, worldwide network where dialogue, understanding, and collaboration lead to a more prosperous, just, and peaceful world. Al-Dabbagh’s trusteeship is viewed by the Eisenhower Fellowships as a unique opportunity to reinvigorate the dialogue between the Kingdom and the US that has lapsed over recent years. This mutual feeling is based on the belief that strong economic ties lead to strong political ties.

In Silicon Valley, Al-Dabbagh presented the Kingdom’s investment strategy to a group of powerful business leaders, including California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and Cisco CEO & Chairman John Chambers. Cisco hosted a workshop designed to expose Silicon Valley business community to the Kingdom’s potential, especially in the economic cities, where the drive for technological innovation will be enhanced. Schwarzenegger expressed full support for Al-Dabbagh’s investment strategy.

Al-Dabbagh joined the cofounder and chairman of Knowledge Universe Education (KUE) Michael Milken in Los Angeles in a three-hour workshop to explore the ways in KUE’s involvement in the Kingdom’s efforts to become the region’s leader in education. Milken said global economy is driven by an asset of human resources and to remain competitive, countries will have “to invest heavily in the development of their human capital, especially at a young age, as this is where the best returns are to be found, up to three times.”

SAGIA’s vision puts secondary and tertiary education highest on its developmental agenda.
