DAMMAM, 4 June 2007 — The Eastern Province Chamber of Commerce and Industry will host on Wednesday a consultative meeting of the chairmen of the chambers of commerce and industry in the United Arab Emirates in Dammam. The Federation of the GCC Chambers is organizing the meeting.

The consultative meeting aims at drawing up special schemes to attract more capital from other parts of the world to the Gulf region particularly to the Kingdom.

It would discuss the measures to be taken to stop the capital drain from the Gulf region. The meeting will also discuss the report on the major achievements of the federation after its last meeting and will approve an action plan for the next three years. It will also discuss the amendments in its rules and regulations in order to boost the economic activities of the private sector, besides the restructuring of the federation’s secretariat.

The heads of the chambers of commerce and industry plan to visit Eastern Province Governor Prince Muhammad ibn Fahd to strengthen cooperation in the private sector of the Gulf countries.
