RIYADH, 7 June 2007 — Saudi fashion designer Zaki bin Abboud has been chosen by Pepsi-Cola to star in a Diet Pepsi TV and also feature in other Pepsi radio and Internet promotional material.
The Jeddah-based designer, who has achieved tremendous international success and popularity in the fashion world, has agreed to star in the TV commercial. “I’m thrilled to be one of the many talented stars who have created memorable Pepsi moments over the years,” the designer said.
Zaki is known for her spectacular designs in her haute couture collections. Her work, which has won several international fashion awards, has been publicized in both the local and international media.
The Pepsi advert campaign will include radio and Internet advertisements, point-of-purchase materials and consumer promotions. Pepsi may also sponsor Zaki’s fashion shows.
Zaki, who is better known as the Princess of Arabic Fashion, will donate a portion of the money she makes from the adverts to a Saudi charity.
The Jeddah-based designer added that she is expecting to open her first fashion gallery in Jeddah in October. The “Zaki Gallery,” which is said to cost over SR10 million, will be at the heart of all types of fashion galleries.
